Nobody sings like Al Green. If you are within ten years of my age on either side, you have to know who he is; if you don’t then you have to find out. So many beautiful songs. This one imo is the best. The title says it all because that’s what it is.
It’s the kind of song that can be enjoyed by anyone at any time. But when you are in love, you just have to hear it over and over. I remember listening to it when I was in love and it would express what I was feeling in a way I never could. So much pure, vulnerable feeling in his voice, refined to such a powerful intoxicant: no words for the sound of his voice, the wordless sounds that express the most tender place where people meet when they love.

Beyond the romance, my wife and I also played Al Green for our kids 30+ years ago, and our grandkids pretty recently, when as infants they got very fussy. Swaying to Brother Al always did the trick.
